about me

My name is Jen Jackson, and I am the owner of Altered Elegance. I have been designing and making custom gowns and doing bridal alterations and temple fills for over 10 years.

I began sewing at the age of 12 and designing patterns by 16. Since then, I have received a BFA in costume design from the University of Utah. During my time there, I designed costumes for several of their shows as well as working in the Pioneer Theatre costume shop as a seamstress.

While I still love the theater, I have found my true passion in designing and creating couture bridal gowns. Whether an original couture design, or recreation of a vintage gown, to me they are the most beautiful and complex creations a seamstress can undertake. There is something deeply rewarding about creating a gown as beautiful and unique as each bride, and I take great pride in my work.

I continue to sharpen my skills so that each dress is better than the last, both inside and out. I have been doing bridal alterations, bridal temple fills, and custom bridal gowns since 2002, and look forward to many more years creating the perfect dress for each bride. Contact me and we can discuss your project.
